To say that these two are amazing is, well, an understatement. I have never met a couple like Jared and Jiezhen, let alone shot a wedding like theirs. The vibes that I got from them was real and grounded – we met for coffee for the first time, and they were instantly sharing their experiences and journey with me. We shared about their beliefs, their commitment to each other, and I was immediately inspired. They shared about the time when they studied at opposite ends of the world, with nothing binding them except their love. I especially remembered how they fondly recalled his proposal to her, and how she ‘countered-proposed’ to him, in an effort to show that she, too, belonged to him.
Theirs was not an ordinary wedding – it was a wedding party celebrated at a black and white colonial house, a remnant from Singapore’s past, held in tact by people who dedicate themselves to preserving history and culture. For me to witness the way they embraced each and every single one of their guests, the way they spoke to each other through their eyes, it was just an indescribable feeling. When their dear friends from overseas started playing a rendition of her own written song for them, in front of a full house dare I say, and then I looked around, seeing everyone lost in that moment, swaying together in the music, the hair on my arms stood on their ends.
Here’s a short summary of photos which I feel pretty much tell the story of the day, and if you inspired after these, do scroll down further for a full one.
