You know how some things that happened long ago, yet felt like it only happened yesterday? An era where it didn’t feel strange to embrace each other, just because you felt like it and you should? Or giving each other the heartiest handshakes we could give, because that was the best way for us to express how happy we felt.
It’s been months since the pandemic started, and we live in a strange new world now – Nobody knows who’s out in the streets with our masks on, except for this little app called SafeEntry. Which is ironic because, isn’t human interaction the very reason why we head out of our homes in the first place? We are social beings, and being controlled with such restrictions did make me uncomfortable when it all began. Although now, like everyone else, I had gotten used to it. I had come to embrace these restrictions, and going out with a mask and sanitizing my hands at every corner has become second nature. Perhaps we are more adaptable than we think.
When I looked back at the photographs from Tom and Cat’s wedding, a rush of warmth inevitably filled me. These were the very things that my heart had been missing – the complexity of human emotions, the relatability of human relationships, and the purity of everyone’s happiness for the couple.
So hopefully, come phase two, the restrictions will begin to loosen as the situation gets better, and things will go back to the way they were before. Back to the era where warm hugs don’t feel so strange after all.
